PROSOFT Goals

  • To reach a production level of 5 billion USD in the software development and related services sector ß To equate the IT expenditure average of the OECD countries (currently 4.3% of GDP)
  • To become Latin-America's leader in the software development and related services sector
  • Key elements to develop Mexico's software industry

    1.  Promoting exports and FDI
      •  FDI attraction oriented to increase development activity
      •  Diffusion of Mexico's industry capabilities abroad
      •  Global market analysis to determine niches in which Mexico can compete successfully
    2.  Developing competitive human capital
      •  Improvement of core and elective subject programs
      •  Development of systematic mechanisms for the formation of competent professors
      •  Strengthening the linkage between universities and software companies
    3.  Generating a promoting legal framework
      •  Electronic commerce issues, Digital signature and electronic invoicing, Data conservation
      •  Intellectual property legal framework enforcement
      •  Promotion oriented fiscal framework for the industry
    4.  Developing our domestic market
      •  IT adoption in lagging economic sectors
      •  e-Government
      •  Digital Mexico Foundation
      •  e-SCM projects on selected sectors
    5.  Strengthening our local IT industry
      •  Financing schemes
      •  Venture capital
      •  Government SW purchases
      •  Software companies incubators
    6.  Enhancing software process capabilities
      •  Funding mechanisms for training and certification in quality standards (CMM, ISO)
      •  Creation of a local certification entity for the sector
      •  Support to R&D activities in the IT sector
    7.  Providing adequate ITC infrastructure
